FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: variable attenuator comprises a stripline conductor connected to input and output coaxial sockets and placed between two metal bases, and movable absorbers. The stripline conductor has a flat-topped shape with the same width and thickness which decreases from its middle part to its ends. The two movable absorbers in the form of flat rectangular plates with the same thickness of absorbent material, for example, a ferrous epoxide or ferrite, are mounted on the metal bases to allow smooth displacement along the stripline conductor.
EFFECT: reduced insertion loss of the variable attenuator and reduced standing-wave ratio.
