FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves B-mode ultrasonic scanning of liver followed by elastometry of shear waves of a focal centre and intact liver parenchyma. Diagnosing the nature of focal growths in the liver is ensured by calculating coefficient K as X to Y ratio, wherein X are the elastometric findings of the focal centre, whereas Y are those of the intact liver parenchyma. If K>1.5, the malignant nature of the focus is stated, whereas K≤1.5 shows the malignant nature of the focus. Diagnosing the nature of focal growths in the liver is additionally ensured by measuring elastomeric findings of the perifocal area Z. If X≥Z>Y and X>1.5Y, an invasive advance of the focal growth is diagnosed; whereas X>Z≤1.5Y shows the non-invasive advance of the focal growth.
EFFECT: technique enables more accurate differential diagnosis of the nature and pattern of the focal growth in the liver by measuring the elastomeric findings of the focal centre, peripheral zone and intact liver parenchyma.
