FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: nonlinear locator comprises a control panel, a personal computer, an electromagnetic wave radiating unit configured to direct probing frequency signals towards an investigated surface, electromagnetic wave receiving units configured to receive frequency signals reflected from the investigated surface, a telemetric unit, an analyser for analysing the frequency spectrum of responses from nonlinear devices embedded in the investigated surface, and a display. The frequency spectrum analyser evaluates received signals for exceedance thereof of background noise. The method includes integrated processing of the surface investigation results and analysing the spectral pattern of responses, which predetermine high information-value of received signals. The display is configured to display response from a second harmonic, which corresponds to a semiconductor, with a red colour, and response from a third harmonic, which corresponds to an oxide, with a green colour.
EFFECT: high reliability of detecting unauthorised speech and visual information capturing devices owing to high information-value of received signals.
