SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a crosslinked polymer composition, its use in insulation of a power cable and a power cable. Crosslinked polymer composition is obtained by crosslinking a polymer composition having a melt flow index (MFR2) of at least 1.7 g / 10 min and containing a polyolefin, a peroxide and a sulphur-containing phenolic antioxidant. Crosslinked polymer composition has an oxidation induction time that corresponds to Z minutes, and contains a quantity of peroxide by-products that corresponds to W parts per million, where 0 ≤ Z ≤ 60, 0 ≤ W ≤ 9,000, and W ≤ p-270⋅Z, and p = 18,500. Polymer composition contains less than 0.05 wt% of 2,4-diphenyl-4-methyl-1-pentene. Polyolefin is a low density polyethylene (LDPE), which is selected from an optionally unsaturated LDPE homopolymer or optionally an unsaturated ethylene LDPE copolymer with one or more comonomers.
EFFECT: providing a low-conductivity polymer composition suitable for applications in direct current high-voltage and ultra-high voltage cables.
