FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the power-plant engineering. Method of prevention by gas distributing valves of the piston groups impact against end faces of the cylinders of the compressor and power module in the compressor with drive of the compressor pistons by free-piston power module, comprising a control system, two cylinders with inlet and outlet valves, and external combustion chamber, wherein the combustion products supply from the external combustion chamber via the inlet valves to one of the cylinders, in each of opposite moving piston groups as part of the compressor piston, and two pistons of the power module with work and compressor cavities, to the work cavity of one piston of the power module drives the piston group with discharge to the atmosphere of the spent combustion products from the work cavity of the another piston of the power module; wherein the control system based on the monitored instantaneous speed of the piston group in each cylinder closes the inlet valves, at that after the piston group arrival to the extreme movement point the piston group speed is equal to zero, and upon the piston group approach to the extreme movement point the control system closes the outlet valve, as result the release of the spent combustion products from the work cavity of the piston is terminated, and pressure of the combustion products remaining in the power cavity of the piston increases, resulting in braking and stop of the piston group at the end movement point, this excludes impact of the piston group against the end face of the cylinder, and at the time moment close to stop of the piston group the control system by means of the inlet and outlet valves ensure the gas exchange of the combustion products supplied from the external combustion chamber, thus ensuring the piston group movement to the opposite extreme movement point.

EFFECT: invention prevents impacts of the piston groups against the end faces of the cylinders.
