FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: method involves two compressor cylinders with compressor pistons and gas distributing valves, a double-cylinder free piston power module with opposite piston movement as part of an outer combustion chamber with a nozzle and a spark plug, two cylinders with pistons and gas distributing valves, and a control system; the control system injects fuel by the nozzle into the outer combustion chamber of the power module, ignites the fuel by the spark plug, delivers the combustion products from the outer combustion chamber of the power module to the power module cylinders, sets the power module pistons and compressor pistons connected to them in vibration by gas distributing valves, in the compressor cylinders it provides for the intake of gas from a gas source into the compressor cylinder by gas distributing valves, and following the gas compression in the compressor cylinder it delivers the compressed gas to a consumer by gas distributing valves.

EFFECT: invention provides for gas compression with high specific capacity due to the energy of gases from the outer combustion chamber.
