FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining the deviation of the edges of the walls of a vertical cylindrical reservoir from the vertical using a geodetic technique on the external surface of said reservoir comprises scanning the external surface of the reservoir using a ground-based laser scanner from at least four scanner stations at a distance of 15-25 m from the reservoir; determining spatial coordinates on X, Y, Z axes of the points of reflection of the laser beam from the surface of the reservoir in an arbitrary coordinate system; recording scans and processing data of the results; forming edges of the lateral surface of the reservoir with any interval by cutting the digital vector three-dimensional (3D) model of the external lateral surface of the reservoir with a vertical plane, and forming points with any spacing on the edge itself; obtaining a digital vector 3D model of the edge at points of the cross-section; performing said procedures on all edges; transmitting the obtained digital information to a computer program; in said program, modelling the design digital 3D model of the edges of the walls of the reservoir using design values thereof; superimposing said model with the obtained actual digital vector 3D model of the edges of the walls of the reservoir; in automatic mode, determining the deviation between the actual and design values; obtaining the value of the deviation of the edges of the walls of said reservoir from the vertical.
EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of determining the deviation of the edges of the walls of a vertical cylindrical reservoir from the vertical.
