FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: DC arc furnace contains casing with bottom, dome, bath with metal melt located below the door step of the work window, framed by lining, top cathode with electrode holder connected with DC source and having possibility of vertical movement, and anode supply in form of one or several hearth electrodes. Inside the casing between bottom and step of the work window the ring reactance coil twisted out of electroconductive insulated busbar connected to DC source, and creating with located inside cathode, bath and hearth electrode conducting direct current the system creating electromagnetic forces moving the metal melt. In the bottom centre at the inside surface the ferromagnetic boss is installed.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of metal bath mixing, improves alloying elements recovery by metal, and accelerates the melting.
