SUBSTANCE: claimed process comprises the steps that follow. Low bits of image sequence count magnitudes are defined for current image. The latter identifies the long-term reference image to be used in coding of the current image portion. High bits of image sequence count magnitudes are defined. In compliance with this invention, the number of low bits uncompressed added to that of uncompressed high bits result in the sum smaller than the total number of bits for setting the magnitude of count order of uncompressed images. Low and high bits of image count order magnitudes are set in the flow of bits that makes the coded version of video data. Current image portion is coded with the help of long-term reference image.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of coding.
