FIELD: physics, communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication engineering and is intended to measure the spectrum of information acoustic signals. The spectrum measurement method employs discrete cosine transform (DCT) instead of fast Fourier transform (FFT), which improves the accuracy of measuring the spectrum of acoustic signals by increasing resolution, reducing the level of window transformation side lobes in the spectrum and reducing variation of the estimate of the amplitude of spectral components, and also cuts the duration of acoustic signal intervals on which the instantaneous spectrum is measured, wherein the method includes generating two signals (main and additional) instead of one, wherein the additional digital acoustic signal is orthogonal to the main signal, the method also includes referencing the measured instantaneous spectral values, spectrum modulus and phase-frequency characteristic of the signal to temporal position- and duration-controlled intervals of the temporary acoustic signal on which said spectrum is measured.
EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring the spectrum of information signals, broader functional capabilities of the device by referencing instantaneous spectral values to duration-controlled intervals of the temporary acoustic signal.
