FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method includes heating of kiln to temperature 800-2000°C, introduction of graphite, polluted with radionuclide, into kiln, introduction of inert gas into kiln, introduction of regenerative gas into kiln and removal of transferred in gas phase radionuclides from kiln, with quantity of introduced regenerative gas being in range from 2 to 20% of the total quantity of gas introduced into kiln.

EFFECT: invention ensures effective deactivation of graphite, without gasification of main graphite mass and makes it possible to remove practically all carbon-14.
