FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for obtaining polydisperse silicon carbide powder includes mixing milled quartz and soot, charge compacting, carbothermal reduction and crushing of silicon carbide. Carbometric reduction to temperature 600°C is carried out in vacuum, with performing further heating to temperature 1850-1900°C at rate 4-6 degree/min in argon flow and exposure for 2-3 hours. Before mixing, soot is subjected to thermal processing.
EFFECT: increase of chemical purity and polydispersity of silicon carbide powder, obtained by effective method.
