SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of biotechnology, in particular to bioreactors and a method of growing algae for further processing them into biofuel. The system of photobioreactor comprises a reservoir for a liquid, a photobioreactor having a level of upper surface, formed as a flexible tube and floating in the liquid. The photobioreactor comprises a growth chamber comprising a medium for growing algae, and the ballast chamber comprising a first fluid which has a first effective density greater than that of the liquid, so that the ballast chamber applies to the photobioreactor the first force acting in a downward direction, and a floating chamber containing a second fluid. The second fluid has a second effective density less than that of the said liquid, so that the floating chamber applies to the photobioreactor the second force acting in the upward direction. The method of growing algae in the photobioreactor system comprises control of the depth of the photobioreactor placement by controlling the volume and/or density of the ballast in the ballast tube and/or by controlling the volume and/or density of the gas in the floating tube.
