SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Method of encoding video data comprises performing a padding operation with fill characters, which processes a plurality of border pixels according to an order which starts from the lower-left border pixel and extends through border pixels consecutively to the upper-right border pixel, wherein when said padding operation processes an unavailable border pixel, different from the lower left border pixel and different from the upper-right border pixel, said padding operation assigns a value to the unavailable border pixel based on the value of the border pixel previously processed by the padding operation, without searching for the next available border pixel; and generating, based on the border pixels, a video block predicted by intra prediction.
EFFECT: shorter processing time and reduced power consumption.
