SUBSTANCE: method of generating high-power laser pulses in the 3-5 mcm wavelength range is carried out using a ZnSe laser, which includes a resonator with totally reflecting and semitransparent mirrors, and a YAG:Er3 laser with the radiation wavelength of 2.94 mcm for pumping. The 3-5 mcm wavelength radiation sources are working medium areas in the form of bands, which are obtained by doping the active zinc selenide material with iron ions Fe2 to a concentration of 1020 cm-3 on a thickness of 100-150 mcm.

EFFECT: achieving high output power, distribution of the generated radiation in space and obtaining radiation beams with different optical characteristics at the output.
