FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: in furnace presence of hot residues is ensured. Metal is loaded, and melted in furnace. Wherein the minimum weight of hot residues is determined considering weight of initially loaded scrap located under surface of hot residues, scrap melting temperature, scrap temperature during its loading, hot residues temperature, scrap and hot scrap specific heat capacity.
EFFECT: invention ensures theoretic calculation of heat balance necessary to prevent solidification of areas of hot residues during the scrap loading, ensures effective use of the electromagnetic agitation of the melt during entire process, and reduces electric energy consumption.
