FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to refining of liquid iron. Auxiliary material is used, and the oxidising gas is supplied through the upper blowing tuyere to the pig iron and molten iron, which are contained or supplied to the converter. Before refining process, pig iron is preloaded, which is loaded completely immediately before loading liquid iron into converter, in an amount not exceeding 0.15 of the amount of pre-loaded pig iron and loading liquid iron, or is not loaded. Pig iron added to the top, which is part or all of the pig iron, is fed during the refining process. During part of the period of the refining process, the powdered auxiliary material or the auxiliary material processed into powder is blown inside so that it passes through the flame formed by the burner.
EFFECT: invention prevents preservation of pig iron in non-melted form in conditions of high proportion of pig iron in mixture without increasing the number of heat sources for its melting.
