FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of steel piston ring (1′) with wear-proof coating (8, 9) for internal combustion engine, in which base body (1) intended for formation of chamber (2) in internal combustion engine side working surface (3). In area of transition side surface (5) of base body (1) in working surface (3) chamfer (7), working surface (3) and at least part of chamfer (7) is coated with wear-proof coating (8, 9). Not coated with wear-proof coating (8, 9) circular area (4) and side surfaces (5, 6) of base body (1) are azotised in located on side face side surface (5) section (a) of specified width not containing nitration coating (10), and then wear-proof coating (8, 9) to form in transition side surface (5) in working surface (3) sharp, not subjected to nitration, functional face (11). Compression steel piston ring with wear-proof coating for internal combustion engine is made as described above.
EFFECT: producing wear-proof coating of steel piston ring with a sharp functional edge in working surface.
