VARIABLE-AFTERGLOW X-RAY PHOSPHOR MADE OF GADOLINIUM-TERBIUM OXYSULPHIDE AND PIXELATED SCREEN BASED THEREON Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC C09K11/85 C09K11/84 G01T1/20

Abstract RU 2577841 C2

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in medicine and engineering when producing X-ray devices with radiation energy higher than 20 keV for diagnosis and flaw detection. The X-ray phosphor has the chemical formula (Gd1-x-yTbxHfy)2O2-z(ΣHal)zS, where ΣHal=F1- and Cll-, F1- and Br1- or F1- and J1-, 0.01<x≤0.2; 0.001<y<0.1; 0.001<z≤0.1. A pixelated screen has a multi-element coating consisting of square-shaped elements with a side not greater than 55 mcm and a height not greater than 30 mcm, based on said X-ray phosphor. The separation layer of the screen is a mesh made of gadolinium oxide with a free-cross section greater than 60%, which is in contact with the multi-element coating. Said elements are formed on a mirror coating of a bearing plate made of a polycarbonate with thickness of 1.5 mm. An array of silicon photodiodes is mounted on the surface of the pixelated layer in optical contact with each element thereof.

EFFECT: X-ray phosphor is non-hygroscopic, atmospherically resistant, has high spectral brightness and a variable duration of afterglow.
