FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques for repair of track ballast section and can be used at replacement of old chips on new. For recovery of ballast section-by-layer in two receiving cuts old crushed stone below bed sleepers on first layer depth H of the old chips are cut at depth H1 = (1-(0.3÷0.5)/α)H. Second layer of old chips is cut on remaining depth. Old crushed rock of second layer is subject to cleaning and sorting, then returned to lower layer of ballast section. Compacted old crushed stone and added to it in two stages new crushed stone. Compacted each layer of new gravel and top layer of compacted ballast section depth H2 = (0.5÷0.7)H, where α-fraction in volume of old gravel particles with size of 30÷60 mm, and H is total depth, on which cut old crushed stone.
EFFECT: higher durability and reliability of restored ballast section.
