FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and can be used in ball hinges of steering mechanisms of various vehicles. Ball bearing comprises a housing made of two parts in the form of covers, non-detachably connected to each other, with enclosed in the casing ball pin and spherical head located in the insert. Space between the insert and housing is filled with thermoplastic filler; then use is made of an accelerated flow of ionized atoms with the energy of 100…200 KeV in order to work on the ball pin. High heating rates cause formation on the spherical surface of a metastable phase - metal glass; metal glasses have high corrosion resistance and wear resistance.
EFFECT: higher surface density of ball pin and higher wear resistance of ball bearing in whole.
