FIELD: engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates internal combustion engines operation control. Result is achieved by fact that the engine controller can determine the formation of carbon deposits on the spark plug caused by the accumulation of additives to the fuel, based on a combination of engine operating parameters, correlated with the degree of serviceability of the spark plug. For example, the operating parameters of the engine may include changing the adaptive detonation period, the frequency of premature ignitions in the engine and the switching frequency of the exhaust gas sensor for driving the vehicle and the frequency of misfires in the engine.
EFFECT: technical result is the determination of the formation of carbon deposits on the spark plug, caused by the accumulation of additives to fuel on them.
