SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines. The method of engine operation (10) consists in that at a certain temperature of the selected component - catalytic converter (70) or the engine (10), the backpressure valve (150) is closed for regulation of passing of exhaust gases. The regulation of operation of the inlet and/or outlet valve (52), (54) is performed by decrease of shutting by valves to reduce internal recirculation of exhaust gases of the cylinder (30). The invention discloses the engine operation versions and the engine system.

EFFECT: decrease of dilution of charge of the cylinder by exhaust gases for keeping the stability of burning.
