FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention consists in the fact that a piezoelectric transducer (transducer) is moved along a sample with a non-directional reflector while measuring the amplitude U and the time of arrival of echo-signals t in arbitrary points of the sample; there is performed a calculation of the input angle at the known depth of reflector h and the speed of ultrasound propagation in sample c by formula α=arccos(2h/ct), after which there is determined the directional pattern.

EFFECT: increase in reliability and accuracy of measurements.
