Method includes steps of: obtaining a raster image of belt, raster image including image data for at least one feature of belt; analysing raster image of belt; based on analysis of raster image of belt, determining physical dimensions of at least one feature of belt; based on determined physical dimensions of at least one feature of belt, determining a wear condition for belt; wherein said at least one belt feature includes one or more belt ribs; preparing a report that includes results of analysis of raster image of belt and determined wear condition for belt; and transmitting report to a user device operated by at least one interested party.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determination of belt wear caused by friction.
