FIELD: determination of wear.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and systems for determining the degree of wear of a part using data from a sensor of a used or worn part and patterns due to this part. A method is proposed for determining the wear of a part by using the degree of wear, which includes receiving data from a sensor (108, 110) representing the surface of the wear part (116). The method further includes determining deviations between measured points (310) in data from the sensor and points on one or more part models, where the part models (214, 216) may be new part models (214) and/or worn part models or parts with maximum allowable wear (216). The method further includes using a constraint model (222) that at least partially spans the part models (214, 216) and measured points (310) to determine the direction along which deviations are measured. The method may also include quantifying wear using measured deviations.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the percentage of wear of a part.
