FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and device for installation of an ophthalmic lens insert with variable optical properties. Insert with variable optical properties can have an inside surface with different radii of curvature. Liquid crystal layer can be used for implementing the function of changing optical properties. In some embodiments, a liquid crystal layer may contain sections of polymer networks with liquid crystal material embedded in the gaps. Power source is configured to supply insert with variable optical properties included in the ophthalmic lens. In some versions ophthalmic lens is casted from silicone-hydrogel. Different elements of the ophthalmic lens can include refraction characteristics of electro-active liquid crystal layers controlled by electric method.
EFFECT: invention enables attribution of variable optical properties to ophthalmic lens insert.
