SUBSTANCE: ophthalmic lens device comprises an insert with variable optical properties, comprising a front and a rear curved elements, a power source integrated into the insert in, at least, the non-optical zone, the first and the second layers of the electrode material disposed in proximity to, respectively, the rear surface of the front curved element and the front surface of the rear curved element; a layer of the liquid crystal material disposed between the first and the second layers of the electrode material and comprising a polymer layer and individual droplets of the liquid crystal material dispersed therein, a layer of the dielectric material disposed between the layer of the liquid crystal material and one of the first and the second layers of the electrode material and having different thickness inside the optical zone.
EFFECT: possibility of changing the lens optical power by controlling electrically the refractive characteristics.
