FIELD: sensor devices.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to biosensors with an underfill recognition system. A method of estimating volume of a sample in a biosensor comprises applying regular polling sequence, detecting presence of a sample, applying an extended polling sequence and determining whether sample volume sufficient for analysis. Extended polling sequence comprises at least one different extended input pulse. Regular and extended polling sequences substantially prevent irreversible changes in concentration of analyte in sample. Also disclosed is a version of method estimating sample volume in a biosensor, which further includes an indication of when sample volume is insufficient, and applying and exciting measuring signal when sample volume is sufficient, as well as a biosensor with an underfill recognition system.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides more accurate and reliable detection underfill of sensor strips.
