FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining and predicting productive qualities of young cattle of meet breeds on meat productivity comprises the use of methods of intra-breed and intra-herd selection. At that it is characterized by an index of relative body weight (IRBW) to 102%, indicating low, and more than 105% - the high weight qualities of young animals of meat productivity, which is represented by the formula: where: P1 and P2 are the actual average body weight of animals-offspring of the servicing bull under study at 15 and 18 months, respectively; N1 and N2 are the actual average body weight of calves (heifers) in a herd of 15 and 18 months, respectively; S1 and S2 is the normalized bodyweight of elite-record class of 15 and 18 months, respectively, depending on the genotype and sex; R is a coefficient of heritability of body weight in a herd as corrected from the level of 100%.
EFFECT: use of the method provides a simplified assessment of the breed, reproduction of new group genotypes of animals with high body weight, contributes to increase in meat productivity.
