FIELD: packaging industry.
SUBSTANCE: method of forming a package, in which the package is formed from a cardboard workpiece, where the said workpiece has straight sides and rounded corners and comprises an edge area surrounding the middle part. The outermost area is bent upward to form the side walls of the package, the middle part forms the bottom of the package. The workpiece before moulding is provided with at least two discontinuous areas of reduced bending stiffness compared to the bending stiffness of the middle part. The discontinuous areas of reduced stiffness are located around the middle part of the workpiece and are formed as elongated areas that extend parallel to the straight sides of the workpiece and are divided by at least one corner section. The package is formed from the workpiece so that the said at least two discontinuous areas of reduced stiffness are located in the transition zone between the side walls and the bottom, where the workpiece is deformed by moulding.
EFFECT: providing a package with a minimal shape deformation.
