SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a hydrated silicone hydrogel contact lens having a layered structural configuration which enables to have a low-water silicone hydrogel core (or bulk material) completely covered with a layer of a water-enriched hydrogel, completely or substantially free of silicon.
EFFECT: hydrated silicone hydrogel contact lens disclosed in the present invention has high oxygen permeability which is required to provide a healthy state of the eye cornea, and a soft, water-enriched smooth surface for comfort when worn.
