FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for producing acetic acid comprising following steps: reacting carbon monoxide with at least one reactant in first reactor containing a reaction medium, to obtain a reaction solution containing acetic acid, wherein at least one reactant selected from group consisting of methanol, methyl acetate, methyl formate, dimethyl ether and mixtures thereof, and wherein reaction medium comprises water, acetic acid, methyl iodide, and a catalyst; introducing at least a portion of reaction solution into a second reactor to generate heat by reaction and heat recovery from second reactor to produce a first stream to a heat recovery; and introducing first stream to heat recovery in first reactor. Invention also relates to a system for producing acetic acid comprising: a first reactor for reacting carbon monoxide with at least one reactant and a reaction medium to obtain a first reaction solution containing acetic acid; a separator for separating first reaction solution into multiple derivative streams for heat recovery; and a second reactor for reacting carbon monoxide with at least one reactant and a reaction medium to produce a first stream to a heat recovery steam generator for recovering vapor/or heat from a first stream to a heat recovery, wherein at least one reagent selected from a group consisting of methanol, methyl acetate, methyl formate, dimethyl ether, or mixtures thereof, and wherein reaction medium comprises water, acetic acid, methyl iodide and a catalyst, and wherein second reactor is a loop reactor, located on line of side stream from first reactor. Loop reactor is used to produce additional heat for steam generation. Loop reactor receives a portion of reaction solution obtained in carbonylation reactor, and additionally provides interaction with an additional portion of carbon monoxide and/or reagents.
EFFECT: improved method of producing acetic acid.
