SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines with variable compression ratio. Control device for internal combustion engine (1) with variable compression ratio comprises facility (2) changing compression degree, capable of changing mechanical compression degree of internal combustion engine, means of obtaining accumulated volume to calculate accumulated volume of oxygen in catalyst (4) for purification of exhaust gas emissions, arranged in exhaust system of internal combustion engine, and device for reading temperature parameter, which correlates with temperature of catalyst (4) for purification of exhaust gas emissions. Mechanical compression ratio varies according to accumulated volume of oxygen. Changing mechanical compression ratio is prohibited according to accumulated volume of oxygen when temperature parameter indicates temperature level below a predetermined threshold. Control method for internal combustion engine is disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of amount of emission of NOx.
