FIELD: engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to internal combustion engine control system according to air-fuel ratio sensor output signal. Disclosed is internal combustion engine control system, whereby if outlet air-fuel ratio, defined by air-fuel ratio determining means from outlet side is equal to or less than specified rich air-fuel ratio, which is richer, than stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, incoming gas air-fuel ratio control device sets exhaust gas air-fuel target ratio, flowing into exhaust gas cleaning catalyst, continuously or periodically to more poor, than stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, until amount of oxygen accumulated in catalyst for exhaust gas cleaning reaches preset accumulation quantity. If amount of oxygen accumulated in catalyst for exhaust gas cleaning is equal to or more than preset accumulation quantity, incoming gas air-fuel ratio control device constantly or periodically sets air-fuel target ratio for richer, than stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, until amount of accumulated oxygen decreases to zero, not reaching maximum amount of accumulated oxygen.
EFFECT: technical result is creation of internal combustion engine control system containing catalyst for exhaust gas cleaning having ability of oxygen accumulation, in which system is keeping amount of accumulated oxygen in exhaust gas cleaning catalyst from reaching maximum amount of oxygen accumulation, and NOX is from storage in exhaust gas, flowing out of exhaust gas cleaning catalyst.
