FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: acoustic flowmeter comprises a transmitting transducer to generate in an object at least one ultrasonic wave introduced into medium on inner side of object facing said medium in form of a longitudinal wave, and a receiving transducer for detection in said object an ultrasound signal, at least partially arising due to said longitudinal wave. Transmitting transducer is in form of high-frequency induction coil without acoustic communication of transmitting transducer with surface of object to generate in region close to surface of object, primarily a metallic object, a variable magnetic field. Due to interaction of magnetic field with static or quasi-static magnetic field in said area, an ultrasonic wave is generated. Distinguishing feature is that transmitting transducer is made to generate directed waves.
EFFECT: reduced requirements for accuracy of mutual location of transmitting and receiving transducers and providing more uniform distribution of power sounding medium in direction of flow of medium through object.
