FIELD: shipbuilding; machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ice-technology, particularly to ice breaking. Method of ice breaking is performed by air-cushion ship during its movement over ice with resonance speed. After excitation resonance flexural-gravity waves in ice, to ship within first wave trough moving behind it with resonance speed are fed periodic reciprocating movements in direction of its movement with resonance frequency of flexural-gravity waves. Movements are provided by maximum within wave troughs, that is, equal to half their length, and ship moves on a curvilinear path.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of ice breaking.
