FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protection of authenticity of electronic images (EI), compressed by EI compression algorithms, transmitted over public transmission channels. At sender, EI is subjected to wavelet conversion, obtained wavelet factors are quantized, and divided into code blocks, of which ordered binary sequences are formed that are encoded in encoded sequences. Before encoding secret initial coding interval boundaries are set in accordance with secret key. Encoded EI is transmitted to recipient. Authenticity of EI is verified: coded sequences are decoded in ordered binary sequences, wherein prior to decoding secret initial decoding interval boundaries are set in accordance with secret key; action is repeated of authentication received code units up to completion of their reception. Received EI is considered authentic, if authentic are all received code units.
EFFECT: reduced difference in length of encoded message and providing EI authentication, compared with length of encoded message without providing authentication of EI.
