FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to control the process of cleaning of spongy titanium from impurities by vacuum separation. Method involves multi-zone heating of a separation device, installed into the furnace with heaters, measurement by temperature sensors of temperature values in each zone of the furnace, comparison of the measured temperature values with set values for every zone of the furnace, maintaining the preset temperature by switching on and off the furnace heaters based on the results of the said comparison. Temperature of every zone of the furnace is measured simultaneously by two sensors; at that, control temperature values for every zone are used as measured temperature values. Control values of temperature of every zone of the furnace are calculated from the difference of temperatures measured by both sensors, with determination of their maximum and minimum values taking into account the coefficient of temperature carry-over. Derived control value of temperature is used to find deviation from preset values and to adjust temperature of every furnace zone.
EFFECT: use of the invention allows to prolong service life of the separation device and to increase the yield of high-quality titanium.
