FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: braking system for an elevator system includes two or more braking surfaces located at an elevator car and frictionally engaged with a rail of an elevator system. One or more actuators may be located at elevator car and are operably connected to at least one braking surface of two or more braking surfaces. One or more actuators are configured for engagement and/or disengagement of at least one braking surface with rail to stop and/or hold elevator car during operation of elevator system. One or more braking guides are located at elevator car to maintain a selected distance between two or more braking surfaces and rail. Said braking guides pass through braking plate.
EFFECT: invention provides compactness of braking system.
