FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. A surgical instrument has two opposite surface areas, at least one of which has a bent surface contour. Tool comprises first and second of forceps arms each having first and second ends. Arms are joined at first ends thereof and arranged to oppose but permit resisted compression of arms toward each other. First-arm head member is located at second end of first arm. Second-arm head member is located at second end of second arm. Head members are angled away from each other relative to an axis running between and coplanar with arms. Each head forms an inner surface and is shaped to releasably engage implantable device. Inner surface of at least one of head member has a bent section, consistent with bent surface contour of implantable device.
EFFECT: instrument provides support and uniform distribution of force to facilitate introduction and prevent damage of medical device and protects tissue, in which device is implanted.
