SUBSTANCE: protective element has an upper side, on which there is a microcavity structure, having a plurality of adjacent microcavities, on which is there is a structure causing a colour effect, having a dispersion depending on angle of incidence. Microcavities are made for a given range of angles of incidence of rays on upper side of ±10° or more, in form of retroreflectors, having a first section in which are reflected rays incident on upper side at an angle within said range of angles of incidence, singly, and a second section in which are reflected rays incident on upper side at an angle within said range of angles of incidence, repeatedly, so that as a result of dependence of dispersion on angle of incidence, having a structure causing a colour effect, rays incident on first section at angle within said range of angles of incidence, and singly reflected thereby, when viewed from upper side, cause a different colour effect than rays reflected multiple times at second section.
EFFECT: disclosed is a protective element for making security documents, such as banknotes, cheques or similar.
