FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nonferrous metallurgy, namely to method and apparatus for producing thermally activated metallurgical alumina. Proposed method comprises feeding initial aluminium hydroxide into bin and its dosing, loading, drying in suspended state, separation of processed mass into phases, thermal treatment and dehydration, cooling and discharge of finished product. Proportioning and loading is performed simultaneously. Initial material is carried out along ascending spiral. After separation of processed mass into phases it is additionally heated with separation of gas flow directed again for drying of initial material. As a result of first stage of dehydration of mixture of thermally activated aluminium mono hydroxide and dry aluminium hydroxide, which passes for heat treatment with second stage of dehydration and produce material consisting of aluminium hydroxide, X-ray amorphous pseudoboehmite boehmite (AlOOH)+ and low-temperature group gamma-aluminium oxide.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of heat transfer processes, recovery, reduced heat losses, simplified design.
