FIELD: veterinary science.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to veterinary science, namely to ultrasonography of Black Sea bottle-nosed dolphins, and can be used for determination of presence and gestational age in female Black Sea bottle-nosed dolphins in captured wild animals. Ultrasonic method involves examination with interval of one month in lying position on water at pool board of dolphins females using ultrasonic device in B-mode in strictly defined planes of scanning for imaging and determining values of linear dimensions of foetus's head and chest, as well as control of foetal viability by foetal heart tones imaging. Examination of female Black Sea dolphins of Tursiops truncates ponticus is carried out in lateral lying on water in pool, at first of one bead of uterine horns, then another. Uterine horns are surveyed in embryonic period of pregnancy associated with using of ultrasonic scanner with depth of penetration of ultrasonic waves to 22 cm and linear-type sensor for 10 minutes with frequency of 2 MHz. Ultrasonic examination of fetus is carried out in sagittal scanning plane. Based on recorded linear dimensions of foetus's head and chest or availability of any hyper echogenic structures of embryo in the uterus gestational age is determined.

EFFECT: higher reliability and accuracy of moment of occurrence of delivery.
