In an electrosurgical instrument, a tool is provided, for operation of which at least one, preferably two pull/thrust elements and a sliding element are required. Sliding element is held between a pull/thrust element and a thrust bearing. Thrust bearing can be in form of a further pull/thrust element. Sliding element can only be activated when pull/thrust element is tensioned tightly.

EFFECT: direction of sliding element on pull/push element allows simple assembly of tools with long shanks, without need for lateral strengthening.
