FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of granules of a polymer moulding material reinforced by fibres and can be used in various engineering fields, including production of reinforced plastics, carbon-carbon composite materials, including the ones for friction purposes, as well as for production of heat-resistant composite moulding materials used for making light-weight parts of a complex shape, used in aerospace engineering, ground and sea transport. Method of making granules of a reinforced moulding material in an extruder, including the following stages: feeding of a binder granules into the extruder; plasticization and melting of the above binder; degassing of the said binder; introduction into the melted and degassed binder of continuous reinforcing fibres; simultaneous milling of the continuous fibres and mixing of the said fibres with the melted and degassed binder to obtain a mixture; extrusion of the said mixture to produce a strand of a reinforced moulding material and granulation of the strand to produce a moulding materia reinforced by granules. Disclosed is also a device for realisation of this method.
EFFECT: improved quality of granules due to a higher degree of homogeneity of granules, reduced porosity of granules, reduced degree of destruction of fibres in the granules and, as a result, increase in the average length of a fibre in granule, which improves mechanical properties of composite materials based on the obtained granules.
