FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy of nonferrous metals and can be used for producing aluminium-scandium foundry alloy. Method involves preparation and melting a mixture containing aluminium fluorides, sodium fluorides and aluminium, supply of scandium oxide, aluminothermic reduction of scandium from its oxide to produce aluminium-scandium foundry alloy, and its discharge. Potassium fluoride is added into the mixture before its melting, which is combined with aluminothermic reduction of scandium and electrolytic decomposition of the alumina formed during aluminothermic reaction, supply of scandium oxide into the melt is carried out continuously while maintaining scandium oxide concentration at the level providing the set scandium content in the obtained foundry alloy, and after the foundry alloy discharge aluminium is loaded into the melt.
EFFECT: disclosed method enables to obtain aluminium-scandium foundry alloy at low temperatures (800-850 °C), simplifies the technology, enables to reduce power consumption.
