FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: in method of investigating flat roof from soft insulation materials current-conducting circuit is used, signal receiver and source. At that, circuit is non-insulated multicore copper wire, which is laid along perimeter of analyzed surface, surface inside circuit is moistened with water, storm water drain funnels and all kinds of equipment are isolated by means of ring from non-insulated strand copper wire, located around funnel or equipment, ring is connected with circuit by flexible insulated wire, pulse source of signals is connected to circuit, second terminal is connected to building earthing, receiver with two probes is used to determine where pulse from source passes through point of damage/defect in water-proof layer to earthing, receiver graphically displays 5-7 last measurements during 16 seconds, direction of movement to point of damage/defect is determinated by signal increase and/or reduction, point of fault/defect check is carried out as follows: one of probes is installed in point of damage/defect, and signal is measured by other probe at distance of 0.2-1.0 m around probe installed in point of damage/defect.

EFFECT: invention provides high accuracy of leak detecting: with accuracy of up to 1-5 mm, with checking integrity of new roofs, especially green roofs with upper layer of soil and plantings and operated, buried by layer of protective gravel, where removal of upper layers for detection and elimination of leaks would be expensive or destructive for roof landscape, quality control and detection of water-proofed surface weak points.
