FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and can be used in short-range radar systems for measuring relative velocity of an object. Said result is achieved due to that method of measuring relative velocity of an object from a point in space, remote from course of object, comprises measuring radial velocity of object and distance from remote point to object, through a period of time greater than two seconds, performing second measurement of its radial speed and distance from remote point to object, then by formula (4), determining distance covered by object on heading for time between first and second measurements, using formula (4):
where c is distance covered by object over time t; t is time between measurements of values of first Vr1 and second Vr2 radial velocity of object, then determining semiperimeter p of triangle abc, which is equal to 0.5(a+b+c), further determining by formula (6):
where r=√(p-a)·(p-b)·(p-c)/p; a is distance from object to remote point, at first measurement of radial velocity of object; b is distance from object to remote measuring point, at second measurement of radial velocity of object; c is distance covered by object over time t; p is semiperimeter of triangle abc, equal to 0.5(a+b+c); B is angle between line first line of sight of object and its course, equal to 2arctg[r/(p-b)], determining angle B between first line of sight of object and its course, which is equal to 2arctg [r/(p-b)], and relative velocity is calculated by formula (7):
EFFECT: technical effect consists in measuring relative velocity of object when viewing object to its heading at angles more than zero and less than 90°.
