FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for mass-transfer. Invention discloses the upper cross-flow tray paired with the lower cross-flow tray in order to facilitate interaction of fluid flows in the mass-transfer column. Each tray has a panel with apertures and a drain pocket; at least one of the said drain pockets comprises a wall laid downward from the panel of one of the upper and the lower cross-flow trays to the level below the panel of the other one of the upper and the lower cross-flow trays, wherein the said wall is connected with and provides structural support for both of the said panels. Mass-transfer column comprises a housing and an open internal area in which multiple pairs of horizontal upper and lower trays are arranged. Method of supporting the trays panels comprises the stages of attaching the upper edge of the wall on the trays panels along the whole or substantially the whole chordal length of the wall and fixing the lower edge of the wall on the panel of the underlying cross-flow tray along the whole or substantially the whole chordal length of the wall.
